About

My name is Jon Lawton and I am a musician/producer/studio owner based in Liverpool, UK.

A brief timeline;

Graduated from the wooden spoon to a 3/4 guitar at age 6.
Got my first electric at age 8 (and still have it now!)
May 1993

Got a bunch of lessons off a man named Geoff, he taught me to play 'Johnny B. Goode', 'Smoke Stack Lightning' and gave me my first Jimi Hendrix CD.
Went to Gateacre Comprehensive School and started playing in a band.
Played my first gig at Halewood School Summer Fair, we played a bunch of covers and got rained off before the end of our set.
Started a group with a few school friends called [atonal].
We entered and won a Battle of the Bands and got our first recording session in Parr Street Studios, Liverpool.
Made our first EP 'Monkey Business as Usual'.
Played every pub/club that would let 15 year olds in with our roadie Dads.
Went to Salford University in 2003 and studied music.
Started my own group 'eighth day army' with my brother Matt.

Graduated uni with a First Class degree in Music.
Got a van and toured the UK with the band.

Got a call from an old uni friend in 2007, asked if I'd play a gig with him. Played to 10,000 people at Wembley with Sami Yusuf.
In 2008 Crosstown Studios was born, my first commercial recording studio and rehearsal rooms.
2009, got another long distance phone call. Traveled to Bahrain and played my first concert outside the UK with Sami, and played a session for the BBC in Maida Vale.

Since 2009, I've continued playing with Sami and have performed concerts in Turkey, Germany, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, France, Belgium, Spain, Holland, Egypt, America and Tajikistan.
I was also lucky enough to record on Sami's 2010 album 'Wherever You Are' and subsequent singles 'Healing' and 'Hear Your Call'.

In 2011, I released my album 'Polyxena', closed my rehearsal rooms, and relocated my studio to a bigger location.
